Sometimes, if you tread very quietly through the evening garden, if you stop absolutely still as the Dell dips away below you and watch closely, you might find a small russet creature playing with great joy amongst the fresh greenery.
A very brief sighting, but patience might be further rewarded if the vixen comes wandering along
She, of course, warier than her child, looks more closely at what might be, and notices a still figure at the top of the path. Perhaps compost bin treats might wait until that sneaky human is gone!
A glance to your left might tell you where she is going, along the well trodden path towards the setting sun
Later still, sitting indoors, noticing a cat's careful attention, you might glance out to the bird tree and find another Dell dweller, helping themselves to those bits the birds leave behind
huffle scruffle snuffle
So kind of you to share your garden. The fox is my favorite of the woodland creatures.
ReplyDeleteWOW Kat, LOVE the wildlife in your garden !!!
ReplyDeleteI think you will be quietly waiting many time ! (at least I would :-) !)
Thank you both for kind comments. We do feel it a real privilege to share our garden with these wild folk and, yes, evenings on fox and badger watch happen quite regularly.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a real delight, especially the brockis!
